How to write a useful enquiry for bulk cannabis seeds
A request for your “best price on bulk cannabis seeds” leaves a lot unanswered. Which seeds? How many? Where are they going? Is this a single purchase or the start of a regular supply arrangement?
You don't need a lengthy procurement document to get the conversation started. A short email with the right details gives a supplier something useful to respond to. For a seedbank, distributor or retail shop, the aim is to make your first enquiry clear enough to discuss availability, price and next steps.
Explain what your business needs
Start with a brief introduction. Say what your company does, where it operates and why you are looking for a supplier. An established seedbank replenishing its range has different questions from a shop exploring its own seed brand.
If you already know the varieties and quantities you want, include them. If you are still choosing your range, explain what you have decided and where you need more information. There is no benefit in presenting an unfinished buying plan as a confirmed order.
For example, you could write: “We run a retail shop and are considering a seed range under our own brand. We have a launch date in mind, but we still need to agree the range and opening quantities.” That gives the supplier a useful starting point without making commitments you are not ready to make.
Separate your first order from future demand
Be precise about the quantity you want quoted now. Put any forecast for later purchases on a separate line, and explain whether it depends on sales, funding or another decision.
In a hypothetical enquiry, a buyer might request a quote for 5,000 seeds and estimate a further 15,000 over the following year. Those figures describe an opening purchase and a forecast. They are not a single order for 20,000 seeds, and they say nothing about a supplier's minimum order quantity.
If repeat supply matters to your business, ask how future orders would be handled. Would each purchase need a fresh quotation? How much notice would the supplier need? Would stock have to be reserved under a separate agreement? Get those points in writing before planning around them.
Give the details needed for a useful quote
Keep the request easy to scan. Include the seed types or named varieties, quantities, delivery destination and preferred timing. Mark anything that is flexible, such as an alternative variety or a later delivery date.
Ask the supplier to make the scope of the quote clear:
- What is included in the price, and which costs are separate?
- What minimum quantities apply to the requested seeds?
- What availability and dispatch timing can be confirmed?
- Which currency and payment terms apply, and how long is the quote valid?
- What information or documents are needed before the order can proceed?
A quoted dispatch date is not necessarily an arrival date. If timing is important, explain when you need the goods and ask what the supplier can commit to.
Be clear about plans for your own brand
Buying seeds for an existing business and developing a new branded range are different projects. If your enquiry involves your own brand, say whether you need seed supply only or also want to discuss packaging and labelling.
KK2's background in white-label bulk seed solutions is relevant to that conversation. It does not mean every enquiry includes packaging, design or a finished retail product. List the work you intend to handle yourself and ask the team to confirm the scope of its offer.
